The substance of stakeholder evaluation : methodological discussion - New York : Marcel Dekker, 2003

What is the scientific and methodological background, the nature of different stakeholder groups, and the quality of stakeholder information produced in the evaluation process? Different stakeholders have different experience, interest, attitudes, and motives to participate in the evaluation process. Thus, the data collected in the stakeholder evaluation have many implicit and explicit characteristics that have to be recognized when the data is analysed and the results of the evaluation process transferred to the development work of an organisation. This article suggest that the reliable stakeholder, and especially the multiple constituency evaluation process has to follow six principles. These principles are the context bound theory, the ability to apply both qualitative and quantitative methods, versatility of data collection, stakeholder participation, ways of forming the evaluation indicators and criteria, and the options for analysis of the information produced by the evaluation process
