Today, tourism is seen an instrument capable of stimulating social and economical development within a responsible and sustainable schedule. The purpose of this article is to explore some means of social integration through tourism and to suggest some points of reflections to the municipalities in order for then to have a better future in comparison to the present social situation. In this compass, the author focuses on the importance of the popular participation in the planning process, on the enterprises social responsibility whith local communities and last, but not less important, on the power of tourism to fight against cultural, racial, ethnical, economical and social stereotypes.
