Developing leadership skills in the Australian meat-processing industry - 2002

The article provides a detailed description of the need for training in the Australian meat-processing industry, and how this need is being met. It breaks down the Slam learning initiative into its constituent parts- an interactive database, a range of quality-improvement methods using cost-of-qualitytechniques and activity-based projects - and describes each in turn. The article also looks at the four stages of the instructional-design strategy: analysis of learners, contexts and goals; design of oabjectives, strategies and assessment tools; production of instructional materials; and evaluation of learner performance and overall design effort. The article is written in an accessible style. It provides more to interest the designer than the user of training materials. Nevertheless, it could usefully be read by human-resource and training managers in any organization lacking a culture of management development but now seeking to take the e-learning route
