Therefore, the solution is to focus on developing new policies or redefining the present ones. With this in mind, a few factors must also be considered: society direct integration and participation in the programs, civic awareness to prevent petty politics and populism, and finally, the integration between urban environmental policies and specific land managements.Abstract: This work presents some possibilities to increase legal access to land in Latin America either by trade or government policies. Thus, the author describes several instruments, implemented in some countries (especially Colombia and Mexico) that may be useful to prevent urban informality if applied correctly.
