Material type: ArticlePublisher: Paris : ENA, 2002Revue Française D'Administration Publique 104, p. 553-562Abstract: Although at first, the effects of the decentralisation of continuing education, consequent on the law of 7 January 1983, were minimal, the 1993 five-year law compensated for this by transfering to the regions continuing education and training actions for young people aged 16-25. The transfer of funding which was part of this decentralisation was satisfactory and the de-concentrated state services contributed technical aid to the regional administrations. The regions thus demonstrated their importance as pivotal actors in the training of young people.
