<br/><br/> This paper critiques the development of TQM and corporate strategy and seeks to encourage further research into the relationship between these two fields of study by developing the concept of Strategic Quality Management (SQM). First, TQM and corporate strategy are discussed from a historical perspective, deleneating the development of the two areas. Second, there is a challenge to the concepts of quasi-strategic stability and, furthermore, the need to take a Strategic. Quality Management (SQM) approach in many organizational situatios is emphasized. Finally, key research questions for developing the practice of SQM are discussed for research agendas
