Place management as an Inherent part of real change : a rejoinder to Walsh - Oxford : Blackwell Publishers Limited, September 2002

Place management is a category of outcome management that has been tested in several experiments in NSW. Those assessed to date are examples of ad hoc place management positions grafted onto traditional government silos designed to produce specialised inputs or outputs. In these circumstances, as suggested by Walsh, the role of an outcomes officer will be limited to areas of special concern and for limited periods. This article discusses place management in the context of a substantial change dirrected at putting outcome management at the centre of government. The limitations on place management identified by Waslsh do not apply in these circumstances
