520 3 _aIn addressing the growing need for performance improvement in all spheres, effort is being focused on the development and refinement of continuous improvement tools, the use of which meet with mixed results. This effort is I believe misdirected as it ignores in large part that their value is derived from the interaction of the tools and their users. What is required are not new tools, new things to see, but a change in the mindset of the user, new ways of seeing. This paper outlines this change in mindset, from change journeys as daytrips to journeys of exploration, and illustrates this new way of seeing.
