Internet voting is defined as the casting of a secure and secret ballot that is transmitted to election officials using the Internet. This columm reviews recent developments in electronic voting, including on-site and remote Internet voting, the National Science Foundation study of "e-Voting", voting standards from the U.S. National Intitute of Standards and Technology and the Federal Election Commission. Congressional review of voting technologies as well as state government initiatives to teste e-voting technologies are also discussed
