520 3 _aThe United Kingdowm has pioneered privatisation and deregulation into previously monopolistic industries. Reviewing the first five years of the privatised regime form 199495 to 1999/2000 this article show that out on nine objetives forwarderd by policy makers at the outset of the programme only one has actually been achieved.
