Nevertheless, the last years have seen an increase in direct political participation by repreentatives of the Evangelical communitites, both by internal strategies and by invitation. In this article it will be suggested that in spite of the heterogeneous character of Guatemala's Evangelicals can be considered as one analytical category, defined as such both by official Evangelical representatives, as well as by other members of the political society. The article further examines the type and nature of the political cooperation and alliances entered as well as initiated by Evangelical representatives arguing that these indicate an endorsement of Guatemala's socio-political status quo.
